Steve Overlease was only 19 when he started his career with IES. Based in Shreveport, Louisiana, the company had moved from stocking radio, TV, and broadcast repair parts to industrial electronic equipment - largely at the request of a growing industrial customer base. As the company continued to evolve, by the late 1970s, IES had committed to expanding not only its product selection (from stocking MRO products, to selling and supporting high-tech electrical equipment) but also its geographic reach. In the 1980s, IES established new stocking locations in Louisiana, Texas, and Mississippi. Steve was tapped to help open the first of these new branches in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Initially providing outside sales support, over the years Steve advanced to the role of Gulf Coast Regional Manager as the company continued to open additional branches across the region. Steve was instrumental in launching and managing the newest IES location in Houston, Texas.
IES is beyond grateful to Steve for his role in our history and the contributions he made over the last 46.5 years! During this time Steve built a strong team with the experience and skills to take the helm and support the success of all those we have the pleasure of serving throughout South Louisiana, as well as in the Houston area.
Steve retired from IES on his 65th birthday after granting a couple of small send-off lunches to celebrate his many years of loyal service. Considered a "legend" in some circles (and in comments on LinkedIn), Steve will be greatly missed, not only by his IES family but also by his many associates. We wish Steve all the best as he enjoys his retirement and the opportunity to travel the country with his wife in their new travel trailer.
