Now Available with Extended Detection Range

3-METER DISCRETE Q5X LASER SENSORThe popular and versatile Q5X series of laser sensors offers best-in-class performance for a wide variety of detection functions. Now, the latest model extends the sensing range from 2 to 3 meters, incorporates dual discrete outputs, and features increased excess gain to easily identify traditionally challenging targets. This increase enables sensing of dark targets against dark backgrounds at the far end of its extended range. The dual discrete outputs can be configured independently to detect two different parameters simultaneously, and they can be programmed as NPN, PNP, or IO-Link.

Benefits & Capabilities

  • High excess gain for reliable detection of the darkest objects (<0.1% reflective black targets)
  • Reliable detection of black targets against a black background, black targets against a shiny metal background, clear and reflective objects, multicolor packaging, and targets of all colors
  • Jam detection model alerts operators to production line jams reducing or preventing downtime
  • Dual teach mode measures both distance plus light intensity for the most challenging applications
  • 270-degree rotatable M12 QD to meet a variety of mounting constraints
  • Programmable via on-board user interface, remote teach, IO-Link, or optional remote sensor display
  • Remote Sensor Display (RSD) enables remote programming and monitoring

SMARTER JAM DETECTION

Increase Conveyor Line Speed & Throughput

A single distribution center may process millions of products and parcels in just one day. With so many items moving through the system, conveyor jams are bound to happen, causing delays throughout the system.

Once a jam occurs, items can pile up quickly, making the jam harder to clear and potentially causing damage to parcels and equipment.

Staff are frequently diverted from other tasks to find the problem and get the system running again—an often time-consuming job—and unfortunately, they are often responding to a problem that does not exist. This is because the technology most frequently used to detect jams is prone to false detection.

Banner's Q5X jam detection sensor monitors the flow of packages and reliably identifies jams by detecting changes in signal strength and distance.
This reduces false detection and delays in detecting jams, while enabling increased linespeeds and throughput.
