Several protection methods can be used when placing electrical equipment into hazardous locations, but none match the versatility, reliability, and efficiency of purge and pressurization. With its straightforward method of protection, purge and pressurization delivers a truly simple and cost-effective solution for placing general purpose equipment in hazardous locations. Enter Pepperl+Fuchs, industry leader in purging technology, with the following purge and pressurization systems linked below:
Each Series solution is comprised of both a control unit and a relief vent. The control units are engineered in sleek, 316L stainless steel for use in even the most rugged environments.
Available in either internal or external mounting options, these modular designed control units provide simple integration and set-up in a variety of applications and enclosures. With intrinsically safe user-interfaces, end-users have complete control of the purge and pressurization application with a wide range of user selectable configurations including immediate shutdown to the enclosure on the account of pressure loss, and bypass controls for simple maintenance and configuration.
Through a menu-driven user interface, end users can easily set up the systems for specific applications through a series of pre-programmed options. This allows the systems to be effortlessly implemented for gas or dust applications without extensive technical knowledge or know-how. In addition, both purge and pressurization units can monitor the internal temperature of the enclosure and then adjust airflow, set an alarm, or automatically activate an external heater or cooler to maintain the proper temperature range. This not only saves end users time and money by avoiding unnecessary downtime due to pressure losses, but extends the life of the electrical components inside the enclosure.
Industry Leading Connectivity
In today’s demanding hazardous location process environment, having real-time control of your process applications is crucial. That is why Pepperl+Fuchs has raised the bar with the introduction of the all-new 6500 Purge and Pressurization Series. The Bebco EPS 6500 Series – which has been designed specifically for global Zone1/21 applications - offers a control unit with industry leading HART and Bluetooth connection and communication. In addition, the 6500 vent provides continuous readouts of both pressure and flow for added monitoring functionality.
The new 6500 Series control unit comes standard with:
- RS-485 communication port with HART protocol - designed for various control functions and diagnostic capabilities directly to an AMS or PLC system
- Bluetooth capability - allows users to connect and monitor multiple 6500 units without physical connection and provides ability to upload pre-configured settings to new or existing units
In addition, Pepperl+Fuchs also offers a free app for smartphones or tablets that allows end-users to easily link to the 6500 control unit via Bluetooth. Available for android and iOS devices, this app provides users the ability to link, through a secure connection, to multiple control units and allows them to monitor or configure the control unit remotely. The app also doubles as a training device, allowing users the ability to access the 6500 Series interface and learn the various settings and features of the system prior to configuration/maintenance.
